The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is reminding those struggling to pay their bill to call the utility company before services are shut off.
As temperatures continue to drop this winter, electric and gas bills will increase, and the best time to plan is now.
The PUC has provided three potential options:
- Call the utility company and ask for customer assistance programs
- Ask for budget billing plans to smooth seasonal highs and lows
- Set up payment arrangements to avoid service disruption.
Consumers are also encouraged to apply to the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
