Motorists should be aware of a couple of railroad repair projects set to get underway soon.
PennDOT officials say a portion of Dinnerbell Road in Jefferson Township has been closed between Victory and Frazier Roads to allow for the repair of the railroad tunnel. This work is weather dependent and will continue through October 16th. The detour uses Route 8, Route 228, Saxonburg Boulevard, and West Main Street.
Then tomorrow, crews will be working on behalf of the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad at the railroad crossing on Route 288 (New Castle Road). A weather dependent closure will be in place from 6 a.m. Saturday through Tuesday at 8 a.m. The detour uses Route 288, Route 68, Route 19, and Hartzell School Road.
PennDOT officials say motorists should avoid these areas if possible and follow posted detours.
