The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is moving forward with a street reconstruction project this summer.
The Authority board approved a bid proposal from Hiles Excavating of Chicora in the amount of just under $442,000 to reconstruct a portion of Kaufman Drive from 80 Kaufman Drive to Ziegler Avenue. This was the lowest responsible bid of four received for the work.
The money for this project will come from Community Development Block Grants through the state Department of Community and Economic Development. This is the final phase of a project that has been going on for several years.
Work is expected to begin as soon as possible with completion expected before the end of the year.
