The Red Cross is sending out an urgent message that there is a critical shortage of blood donations.
Officials say they are distributing around 12 percent more blood products to hospitals across the country compared to this time last year. The Red Cross says they need around 1,000 more donations to meet that need.
In Butler County, there are two drives happening next week; Monday at the Butler Days Inn from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. And then on Tuesday at the LifePointe Alliance Church on Route 228 in Mars from 1-7 p.m.

The Red Cross is also offering an incentive if you donated blood in early August, with all donors automatically being entered to win tickets to the upcoming Bonnaroo Music Festival.
