The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler plans to charge tenants a per-month fee to have a pet.
Current authority policy requires a $100 security deposit for renters in one of their 12 units who would like to have fish, a bird, one dog or one cat. Since the deposit does not completely cover the cost of cleaning and any necessary repairs after the pet owner moves out, the new $25 per month fee will go towards that expense.
Residents of the seven units currently rented will be informed of the proposed policy change and have 30 days to review before the authority will take a final vote to implement the new fee.
