The Cincinnati Reds took two of three games in a weekend series with the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 9-5 victory Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. Kevin Newman, Ben Gamel and Rudolfo Castro led the Pirates with two hits each. The Pirates bullpen allowed six Cincinnati runs after starter Zach Thompson allowed three earned runs in his five innings. The Reds had 13 hits in the game, and drew six walks from Pirates pitchers.
The Pirates lost 10-1 Saturday, and won Friday’s game 5-4. Their record is now 47-74.
The Bucs host the Atlanta Braves for three games beginning tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
