A Renfrew man has been placed in the Butler County Prison after he allegedly strangled a woman.
On Thursday police were called to a home in Cranberry Township for a reported domestic incident.
When officers arrived on scene, the woman accused 45-year-old Matthew Joseph of strangling and hitting her in the back of the head after a verbal argument.
Joseph was charged with strangulation and simple assault.
At the time of arrival, police say Joseph left the scene but he was later taken into custody and had his bail set at $200,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 3rd.
