A local state representative is among those asking state officials to reconsider a decision to eliminate spectators from school sporting events this year.
Republican Representative Aaron Bernstine recently sent a letter to Governor Tom Wolf, Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, and the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, or PIAA.
Bernstine expressed “disappointment” with the “blanket” decision which he believes “will have negative impacts on our student athletes’ well-being and self-esteem that will carry on through academics and adulthood.” 62 other House Republicans expressed similar sentiments.
Bernstine represents parts of Butler, Beaver, and Lawrence Counties.
