Congressman Mike Kelly is proposing a national day to recognize children who are impacted by a cancer known as neuroblastoma.
Kelly introduced the resolution to name September 3rd as National Neuroblastoma Day.
Kelly said it’s important to bring awareness to this disease and help spur new developments in treatment.
Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in infants and the most common solid tumor outside the brain in children.
Approximately 600 to 800 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States, and roughly 90 percent of cases are diagnosed before age five.
