Congressman Mike Kelly was in Congress this week making his case against the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill.
The Republican from Butler used the goose and the golden egg story to relate a point that he believes the bill is too expensive.
“In this case, we are going down a road where we cannot come back. And I think it’s wonderful that we have all these ideas that we’re going to help everybody and we’re going to do everything for everybody because this goose is going to keep laying eggs. We are coming to the end of the goose life,” Kelly said.
The bill proposed by Democrats and President Joe Biden is a plan to invest billions into ventures like education, climate, energy, housing and more.
Republicans have argued the bill is too vast and expensive, while Democrats have countered that the bill is necessary and would be paid for by tax increases on those making over $400,000 per year.
