Pennsylvania state lawmakers have approved a bill that a local elected official co-sponsored to protect online consumers.
State Representative Stephenie Scialabba co-sponsored House Bill 78 that would require online retailers to protect consumer privacy and limit the collection of consumer data.
The Attorney General would oversee the authority and enforce violations. This bill would allow Pennsylvania to join 20 other states who already have consumer data privacy laws in place.
This bill now moves on to be considered by the PA State Senate.
