A number of people spoke out at yesterday’s county commissioner meeting about ICE operations in Butler.
Eight individuals spoke out during the public comment session of the meeting, taking issue with the contract the sheriff’s office has with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The sheriff entered into the contract with ICE last summer, and since that time there have been a number of ICE operations inside the county.
The residents spoke on a variety of issues, citing safety concerns, financial costs, and how ICE conducts its operations.
The sheriff’s office cannot confirm how many illegal immigrants have been detained in the county.
