A number of county residents were at the county commissioner meeting once again yesterday speaking out against the sheriff’s agreement with ICE.
A dozen people spoke during the public comment session, with most against the contract—which allows the sheriff’s office to assist with ICE operations in the county.
“Let’s come together as a community to oppose this hateful treatment of human beings,” Peter Donovan of Forward Township said. “Other communities are standing up. Let’s join them and demonstrate our love.”
ICE officials say more than 35 people have been detained in the county by the agency.
