A Prospect man convicted of third-degree murder in 2014 will be back in court today after The Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled for a retrial.
The shooting happened back in 2014, when 32-year-old Jeremy Sickenberger was “rough housing” with Thomas Stockman. That’s whey Sickenberger shot and killed Stockman, although he claims that he had no intention of firing the gun and it had fired by accident.
After appeals were filed on behalf of Sickenberger, the district attorney’s office has been ordered to retrial Sickenberger due to ineffective counsel in his first trial.
The district attorney’s office appealed the decision made by the Superior Court to the Supreme Court but was denied.
Sickenberger has a hearing this afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Butler County Courthouse.
