The police chief of Penn Township is advancing to the general election as the next district magistrate of the Saxonburg area
Jack D. Ripper defeated Chris Bauman in the race to succeed retiring Judge Sue Haggerty.
Ripper secured the nomination for both the Republican and Democratic parties. Unofficial results say he earned 60 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary, and over 75 percent of the vote of Republicans.
Barring an independent, Ripper will be the only candidate on the ballot in the fall.
