Shane Van Gisbergen won the Nascar Cup Series street race in Chicago Sunday. He had won the inaugural street race there two years ago. He passed Chris Buescher late in the race, and cruised to the win over runner-up Ty Gibbs.
After winning the race in 2023, Van Gisbergen was signed to a developmental deal for the 2024 season by Trackhouse Racing and ran a full season in the X-finity Series.
This year, he is qualified for the Cup Series post-season, and now has two wins in the last month. He also won the road course race in Mexico. The Cup Series drivers head to another road course this weekend, when they race in Sonoma, California.
