As work moves forward with improvements to Butler City parks, one is about to temporarily close to the public.
Local contractor W.K. Thomas will begin work on Rotary Park on the Island Monday, resulting in a three week closure.
The plan includes new sidewalks, a shelter, more parking, ADA compliance, and prepping for new playground equipment although that is not expected to be ready for install until next spring. Sidewalk updates to Christie Avenue Playground have just finished along with paving a parking lot at Father Marinaro Park last month while work on Memorial Park will begin later this fall.
Over a million dollars to pay for these projects came through Community Development Block Grant Cares Act funding.
