The major construction projects along Route 228 are nearing the finish line.
Butler County was awarded two federal “BUILD” grants to help improve the Route 228 corridor.
Officials say the projects included in the first round of funding are essentially complete. Included in this project was $14 million for an expansion of Freedom Road, which finished $100,000 under budget. Currently, construction crews are wrapping up the final step of the Balls Bend project, which is finishing land restoration. This portion of the project was $36 million that also stayed on budget.
Meanwhile, county officials say the BUILD 2 grant is also about a half-year ahead of schedule. The Freedom Road to Beaver County line project, which had a budget of $25 million, should be finished this November. The Three Degree Road project spans from Balls Bend to Mars is a $55 million project that is still on schedule to be done in the fall of 2026.
County officials cited a contract with Delta Development as one of the reasons these projects were able to stay on-time and on budget.
