PennDot will be opening the westbound lanes on Route 422 that were part of the Walls Memorial Bridge Epoxy Overlay Project today and will start back to work on the project on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
Crews were going to be working on the westbound lanes tomorrow but they have decided to open the lanes by noon today, June 10, 2021. That will allow for unrestricted traffic for the weekend.
On June 15, 2021, the travel lanes will be closed for several days to complete work on the bridge. At that time, traffic will be restricted to one lane.
This project affects the area of State Route 422 between the Lyndora exit on State Route 422 Westbound and the intersection of State Route 422 Westbound and Greenwood Drive/Heinz Road.
This over $820,000 project will improve skid resistance on Meridian bridge deck to improve safety for motorists.
Work on this project, according to PennDOT will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.
