The San Diego Padres handed the Pittsburgh Pirates their eighth loss in a row following a 2-1 victory last night. The game was scoreless for the first six innings before the Padres scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. The Pirates scored their lone run in the ninth inning. The Pirates left 10 men on base, and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Jake Woodward started for the Pirates in the game, after it was learned Marco Gonzales has a left forearm strain, and is done for the season. Woodward allowed one run on just three hits over six innings.
Gonzales was placed on the 60-day Injured List.
The Bucs and Padres play again tonight at 9:40pm. Pre-game begins at 9:15pm on WISR. Luis Ortiz will start for the Pirates.
