State police say a scammer tried to steal over $2,000 from a Slippery Rock man.
Police were called to a home of a 62-year-old in West Liberty Borough to investigate an attempted theft.
They say the scammer acted as the victim and tried to pre-authorize holds to an Aloft Hotel in Texas in the amount of $2,100 from the victim’s checking account.
The victim was notified of the holds by his bank, which then declined all transactions. The man did not lose any money.
