A Butler school bus driver and paraprofessional received a state award for her commitment to students.
Kimberly Lokhaiser was honored with the Recognizing Inspirational School Employees Award, also known as RISE. She has been a bus driver for the Butler Area School District and Center Township Elementary for 32 years.
The state award is only given to two school employees across the entire Commonwealth.
For the last two years Lokhaiser has also taken on the added role of paraprofessional, but she will always love driving the school bus.
“I love driving school bus. I’ve been driving for a long time. And the kids are just great,” Lokhaiser said. “I’ve seen changes over the last 32 years, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Along with local elected officials and county commissioner’s Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Dr. Carrie Rowe was in attendance for the award ceremony.
