Science students in the Seneca Valley School District have received invitations to a world competition later this month.
Teams from Haine Elementary and Middle School have earned a spot at the KidWind World Championship taking place on May 17 to 20 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
A group of students designed a solar environment that contained a solar laboratory, gardens, and shed and won the Solar Spirit Award at Penn State.
The SV Wind Power team from Haine Middle School team, finished in 2nd place for their work in designing and testing for a variety of different gear ratios and blade designs. Creating a turbine with four gears and six identical blades made of corrugated plastic.
The two teams were recognized by the Seneca Valley School Board at their Tuesday night meeting.
