The state’s secretary of health is laying out guidelines for hospitals to begin elective procedures.
“In order to start elective procedures, facilities should ensure that there’s enough personal protective equipment to be prepared for a surge in COVID-19 cases,” said Dr. Rachel Levine during Monday’s daily update.
She added outlined another requirement.
“Facilities also have to be able to safely treat patients without having resorting to crisis standards of care, where they would have to prioritize care during a surge,” Levine said.
Butler Health System is currently looking at when they will resume elective surgeries, according to BHS Director of Public Relations Jana Panther.
“There are 3 subcommittees of the Steering Committee – Surgical Services, Ambulatory Care and Clarion Hospital – that continue to meet. They will make their recommendations to the full Steering Committee late Wednesday,” Panther said.
