Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati has appointed Senator Joe Pittman to serve as Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee for the remainder of the 2019-20 Legislative Session.
This committee is responsible for reviewing legislation and resolutions related to a number of subjects dealing with housing and community revitalization.
“While that title of that committee may sound like it’s not very applicable to our district, the reality is, that it’s a significant committee when it comes to dealing with issues of blight,” Pittman said.
“So I’m very thankful for the opportunity and I look forward to the leadership role,” Pittman added.
In recent years this committee has focused on helping municipalities address abandoned and blighted properties and returning land to public use as well as addressing veteran homelessness and housing.
