Seneca Valley graduate Ruthie Hughes, a distance runner at Slippery Rock University, won the 5,000-meter run Saturday at the Ashland Invitational. The senior from Cranberry Township is a psychology major with a concentration in Neuroscience.
The Butler high school track & field teams competed at Kent State last weekend and the relay teams had great performances. The 4×800 team of Ethan Thomas, Mateo Saspe, Alex Motonis and Logan Rogers won with a time of 8:08.89. The 4×400 Relay team of Isaac Miller, Kevin Shriver, Carter Ekas and Deacon Simko took first place (time of 3:27.72) and were runner-up in the 4×200 Relay.
For the girls – Gigi Vardy was runner-up in the High Jump with a leap of 5’2″. The 4×800 Relay ran to a third place finish.
