A group of parents in the Seneca Valley School District are expressing concern over a bus stop they say is dangerous.
The stop is located on Reibold Road at Cool Springs Drive, which is the entrance to a housing development. Troy Erdlen is a parent that lives in the development, and he says the bus stop is very concerning.
“That’s a really nasty band. You can’t see coming around that bend. We’ve lived here for a few years now and the amount of people that can’t negotiate that turn is pretty astounding,” Erdlen said.
Erdlen says there are about 20 kids that catch the bus at the stop, and parents have reached out to the district about the dangers at the stop for years.
“If this just started Monday, I could see giving them some time. But, this is an issue that has been going on for a few years,” Erdlen said.
Erdlen also said there are homes being built near the bus stop, which has led to a number of construction vehicles being in the area.
“This past Monday, a construction worker was driving his vehicle and began to yell at the parents and students when we asked him to wait until the kids left the stop,” Erdlen added.
He says the district told him they would have transportation officials and state police at the stop this week to help, but that didn’t happen.
He’s asking the district to move the stop to a safer location inside the development.
Seneca Valley officials say they are aware of the issue and are working to resolve the matter.
“If this just started Monday, I could see giving them some time. But, this is an issue that has been going on for a few years.”
