Seneca Valley softball standout Lexie Hames has been named the overall “Player of the Year” for all classifications by the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association for the second straight season. The association released its All-State teams Tuesday.
Hames, now a Seneca Valley graduate and Clemson recruit went 17-3 as a pitcher with a 0.49 ERA and 279 strikeouts in 116⅔ innings. She also was a terrific hitter who was feared by opponents. She walked 40 times, including many intentional walks. She still batted .500 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs. For her career, she had 941 strikeouts and a record of 63-12 with a 0.75 ERA. Hames also was selected the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year in each of the past two seasons.
Knoch infielder Emersyn Jones was named the state Class 4A First Team.
