The Mayor of the Seven Fields Borough says they will be receiving additional police coverage from a nearby department as they weigh the future of policing in the borough.
Mayor Dean Galitsis says that Seven Fields reached an agreement with Cranberry Township to provide shift coverage in order to ensure consistent patrols.
Seven Fields is also considering a long-term police contract with either Cranberry or the Northern Regional Police Department.
Galitsis says that solicitors with both Seven Fields and Evans City believe they can legally dissolve their previous joint policing agreement, with Evans City considering reabsorbing the department.
Seven Fields and Evans City originally agreed to share a police department in 2013, but Seven Fields officials believe that the current arrangement is not financially beneficial to the borough.
