For the fifth time in six months, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has joined a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over withholding of federal funding.
24 other states have joined in the lawsuit that Shapiro says resulted from an unlawful decision to freeze $230 million in Congressionally appropriated money for the state Department of Education.
This funding supports before and after school programming, teacher training and professional development, adult and family literacy programs and education for children with special learning needs.
This comes after the U.S. Department of Education notified the Pennsylvania Department of Education on June 30th that money normally available July 1st would be withheld even as educational professionals attempt to plan for the upcoming school year.
