Governor Josh Shapiro is laying out his new proposal to boost the police force in Pennsylvania.
Shapiro says one of his ideas is to provide law enforcement officers with a tax credit of $2,500 a year over three years.
“For the first time ever, we’re really creating a really unique tax incentive program. We’re saying to every new recruit and police officer, that when you get certified here in Pennsylvania, we will put up to $2,500 back into your pocket for at least three years,” Shapiro said. “That goes for new cadets and police officers we can steal from New York, New Jersey, and other states.”
The governor also noted that his proposal calls for additional state trooper cadet classes and to address the shortage of municipal police officers.
