Governor Josh Shapiro has signed a bill into law that looks to crack down on a growing illegal drug.
The bill will limit access to illicit xylazine, which is a powerful animal tranquilizer known as “tranq.”
It will now be classified as a Schedule 3 Drug, meaning harsher penalties for possession and selling.
Shapiro says he wants to ensure the drug is available for proper veterinary reasons, but eliminate drug dealers accessing the drug.
