Governor Josh Shapiro delivered the keynote speech at the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau State Legislative Conference in Harrisburg where continued to emphasize the importance of farming in Pennsylvania.
“Work in agriculture contributes $132 billion to our state’s economy. To ignore that, to leave that on the sidelines of any economic development conversation is not only disrespectful to our farmers, but it doesn’t make sense economically,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro touted $60 million in funding to help prevent further spread of the bird flu and $2 million for local small farms, and fully funding the Pennsylvania Farm Bill for the sixth straight year.
Shaprio’s 2025-26 budget looks to increase funding for farms by $10 million.
