High School Sports:
–The North Catholic girls basketball team will face Freedom tonight in the WPIAL Class 3A championship game. Tip-off is 7pm at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh. The Lady Trojans enter the game 18-5 overall and are seeking their 21st league championship. Freedom is 18-4. Two of their losses are to North Catholic already this season. The game is the first of three tonight and a total of 12 championship games at “The Pete” through Saturday.
In the District 10 Class 5A Semifinals last night:
–The Slippery Rock girls defeated Harbor Creek 42-26. The Rockets will meet top-seed Warren in the championship game Saturday after Warren defeated Grove City 47-25. It is the second straight year the two teams will meet of the District 10 title.
Grove City and Harbor Creek will play for third place and a spot in the state tournament.
The Grove City boys will meet Hickory for a state playoff spot Friday night at Slippery Rock University. Tip-off is 6pm.
