Slippery Rock School District has reassigned an administrator who was recently hired to work as a principal.
Slippery Rock School District hired Shawn Zappia back in April to serve as the new principal of Moraine Elementary. He officially took over the position in July.
Later that month the state Secretary of Education reinstated former principal Kristie Shulsky, after she was initially fired.
At a school board meeting last week, the position of K-12 Elementary Principal for Special Services was created and Zappia was reassigned to this new role.
The core responsibility will be to assist the Director of Special Services with the 20 percent of students that have special needs and individual education plans.
Zappia will have an office in the middle school but will not have a set schedule for which school building he will be at for each day.
He will also receive the same salary he was originally hired for as an elementary school principal.
