Slippery Rock University has announced that the University’s spring commencement ceremonies have been postponed indefinitely.
SRU President William Behre said the decision to reschedule the May 8th and 9th festivities was made to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
According to Behre, with many health experts predicting an extended period of disruption, it was important to make this decision before families and friends made plans to join SRU graduates at the ceremony.
Pending the national health situation, University officials still plan to hold an in-person celebration later in the year. All students who are eligible to graduate in May will receive their diplomas by mail.
