Multiple residents had to be evacuated from structures in Evans City Borough Thursday afternoon as a result of a strong smell of natural gas.
The first of several calls into the Butler County 911 Center came in around 12:30 p.m. for the smell inside and outside of residences in the 200 blocks of Jefferson and Harrison Streets.
Crews from Evans City, Harmony, Callery, and Adams Area were dispatched to investigate while Evans City police worked to evacuate a number of residents from the scene.
The source of the smell was not immediately evident and gas company employees have been sent out to further help isolate the source.
