The South Butler School Board has revealed an expected budget for the 2021-22 school year with no tax increase.
During an online school board meeting Wednesday night, officials approved a preliminary general fund budget of nearly $37 million which is very close to the amount budgeted for the current year.
The budget passed by a vote of 7-1 with member George Zacherl dissenting. The district’s plan is to use federal funding assistance to hold the tax rate constant at this year’s rate of 94.275 mils. No positions will be eliminated but one employee is being furloughed as a result of low enrollment in the district’s Spanish program.
That budget will now be posted for public review on the district’s website for 30 days. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback before a final vote is taken on next year’s budget in June.
