South Butler School District is offering a new incentive to help reduce the number of sick days taken by teachers.
By unanimous vote at their Wednesday night meeting, the school board approved a memorandum of understanding with the South Butler teachers’ union concerning a wellness initiative.
The plan offers a $500 wellness incentive for teachers who do not use any sick days. This proposal has been approved by the teachers’ union and will go into effect at the beginning of the spring semester.
Superintendent Dr. David Foley believes that this new incentive could help reduce the number of substitute teachers that are needed in the district as a result of full-time teachers taking sick days.
