The Pirates begin the night 34-30 overall and have a one-game lead in the National League Central. The Cubs are 28-37 and are 6-1/2 games behind the Pirates.
Long-time Pittsburgh television and radio sports personality Stan Savran has passed away at the age of 76. Savran was a sports broadcaster for local television stations and numerous sporting events, but was best known co-hosting a sports talk show called “Sportsbeat” with Guy Junker. When it was canceled after 17 years in 2009, it had been the longest running sports talk show in the Pittsburgh market.
