Slippery Rock University’s marching band is getting ready for an international trip to ring in the New Year.
The more than 140 members of the Marching Pride found out in March of 2022 that they were selected as one of 28 international bands to perform in this year’s version of the London New Year Day Parade.
The journey begins Thursday (12/28) and will continue until January 3rd. The parade takes place at noon (7 a.m. Eastern time) and is a very popular event in London, with nearly a half million people in attendance each year. The performance will be broadcast on PBS.
Parade organizers learned of SRU’s Marching Pride after watching their performance in Dublin, Ireland for the New Year celebration in 2019. Visit SRU’s Facebook page to follow along with the trip.
