Slippery Rock University is moving forward with a preliminary budget for the next year.
The 2022-23 proposed budget was approved by a 7-3 vote in the council of trustees. University officials say the budget includes $148 million in expenditures with a surplus just shy of $74,000.
The university’s finance department noted that Slippery Rock was initially staring down a deficit prior to an increase in state funding. An additional $9.7 million is coming to Slippery Rock via the last state budget.
That allowed SRU to put a hold on any tuition hike—which has remained the same since 2018-19.
