The Slippery Rock University football team has moved up one spot to #6 in the nation this week in Division II following their 42-21 Homecoming victory against California. The Rock will host Clarion this weekend, marking the 48th consecutive game they will play as a ranked team.
SRU is also one of ten teams listed on the initial Super Region One Regional Rankings released by the NCAA Monday. The first list is just an alphabetical list of teams they are looking at to be selected for the post-season playoffs. The actual rankings of those ten will be released next Monday.
For the eighth consecutive week of the 2023 season, the SRU football team has had a player honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference after defensive back Eddie Faulkner IV was named the Western Division defensive player of the week Monday. Faulkner made several critical plays in The Rock’s victory over Cal Saturday including two sacks, one of which forced a fumble. The Rock defense forced the Vulcans offense into three interceptions, held them to no passing touchdowns, and just seven completions for 102 yards.
The Grove City football team remained ranked #22 this week in Division III following their 49-0 win over St. Vincent.
