The Slippery Rock University softball team won its first PSAC-West Division title following a series sweep of Edinboro Saturday. Slippery Rock high school graduate Paige Gresgott earned the victory on the mound in game 2 of the doubleheader. Alexsa Hurd became the first 15-game winner on the mound in game one, but also tied the SRU record for career home runs with 40, following two home runs in that victory. The Rock completed their regular season with a sweep of California Sunday and improved to 26-19 overall, but are 20-7 in division play. The PSAC tournament begins Wednesday.
The defense defeated the offense 48-21 Friday night in the Slippery Rock University football teams’ annual Green & White game to cap spring practices. The defense scored two touchdowns on fumble recoveries and blocked a punt for a touchdown to lead their victory.
