Slippery Rock University is teaming up with the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau to improve the experience of students in the hospitality industry.
In the upcoming year, SRU instructors and administrators will work with Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau President Jack Cohen as well as the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association to grow and develop SRU’s hospitality and tourism program.
Teachers will design and produce special events around the Slippery Rock area in cooperation with tourism officials such as food festivals, seasonal events, and the 2024 Can-Am games secured by Butler County earlier this year.
Finally, the owner of North Country Brewing in Slippery Rock will allow to SRU students to use his main street coffee café as a culinary lab for hands-on learning as part of the school’s first food and beverages classes in the spring of 2020.
