Slippery Rock University head football coach Shawn Lutz was named national co-Coach of the Year and quarterback Roland Rivers III was named the Offensive Player of the Year to headline six Rock selections to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Division II All-America team announced this week.
Joining Rivers as a first-team All-America selection was offensive linemen Chris Larsen. Offensive lineman Ryan Podgorski, wide receiver Henry Litwin and linebacker Brad Zaffram were named third-team selections. Receiver Jermaine Wynn, Jr was an honorable mention.
Lutz led Slippery Rock to a 13-1 overall record, a state title and a trip to the national semifinals. He shares the Coach of the Year award with Pete Shinnick, who led West Florida to the 2019 Division II national championship.
