St. Barnabas Health System has a new chief executive officer.
Douglas Day took over as CEO earlier this week, becoming the fourth chief executive in the company’s 126-year history.
Day has been with the organization for more than 40 years, most recently serving as senior vice president.
He succeeds William Day, who served St. Barnabas for 58 years. He was named as chairman emeritus by the Board of Trustees.
“The transition from Day to Day is a seamless one,” Daniel Henderson, who is chairman of the St. Barnabas Health System Board of Trustees, said. “Together, the Days represent nearly a century of combined leadership that has built St. Barnabas into a financially sound, forward-thinking provider of retirement living, healthcare, and charitable services.”
Douglas Day is joined with Senior Vice President J.D. Turco in helping oversee the St. Barnabas business portfolio, which includes retirement care, clinical services, new construction, hospitality, golf resorts, charity care, retail enterprises, and broadcasting.
