The Pennsylvania Senate returned to session yesterday to finish the state budget.
Senate President Kim Ward called senators back to Harrisburg for a session to send the budget to Lt. Governor Austin Davis. Davis then signed the budget and sent it to Governor Josh Shapiro desk. As expected Shapiro signed the budget and line-item vetoed the $100 million set aside for private school scholarships.
The entire session took 20 minutes.
The budget was in limbo over the last couple of weeks, due to Governor Josh Shapiro saying he would line-item veto $100 million.
County governments say the delay in passing the budget required them to dip into their fund balance to cover costs of some services.
