The Pennsylvania State House of Representatives has passed a temporary budget that would provide funding for the next five months.
House Bill 2387 does include some 12 month appropriations including education line items but legislators would have to appropriate the final seven months of the fiscal year at some point later in 2020.
Representatives pointed to moving the state tax deadline to July 15th and the shutdown of many businesses as the reason why the state may not have revenue available to fund many other programs. Local Representative Marci Mustello voted in favor of this bill.
This $25.8 billion appropriation bill with level funding from the current year will next advance to the state Senate for consideration.
