State officials are urging Pennsylvania residents to shop as they normally would and stop hoarding food items which stresses the system designed to provide charitable food resources.
PA Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding.
“Please be mindful that we have a lot of folks who are now out of work that are going into food banks for the very first time, and they are in need of food assistance,” Redding said. “Those food banks are critical at this moment.”
Redding says people need to go back to purchasing food as they normally do.
“Don’t hoard the food. Don’t buy more than you need,” Redding said. “Go back to normal patterns. That will allow our food system to catch up.”
Some grocery stores have altered hours in order to restock shelves and properly clean the stores.
